Why Nemasys Fruit and Vegetable?

Nemasys® Biological Fruit and Veg Protection is a solution for all produce growing problems in just one product. It contains a mix of species of nematodes, which are naturally occurring microscopic worms that act as natural pest controls.

Each nematode species controls a different type of pest, with the Fruit and Vegetable Protection containing species to control:

  • carrot root fly
  • cabbage root fly
  • cutworms
  • onion fly
  • sciarid fly
  • shore fly
  • caterpillars
  • gooseberry sawfly
  • thrips
  • codling moth

Nemasys® Biological Fruit and Veg Protection can be used on home-grown produce with confidence, leaving no chemical residues, and produce can simply be rinsed with water before eating.

Application

  • Apply to moist soil when soil temperature is above 10C or to foliar pests when air temperature is above 12C
  • Use immediately on receipt of packs or refrigerate at 5oC (do not freeze); use within expiry date (see inner sleeve of pack)
  • Avoid application in direct sunlight; nematodes are uv-sensitive, so apply on a dull day or in the evening
  • Use the entire pack and do not store stock solution or diluted product
  • Make a stock solution as directed on the label, making a paste in the first instance and then adding remainder of the water, to avoid lumps forming; this solution should be mixed thoroughly to ensure nematodes are well dispersed and kept agitated
  • Dilute stock solution in a watering can or sprayer as detailed on label
  • Use a course rose on the can (pores >1.4 mm diameter) or ensure sprayer is fitted with a coarse (>0.5 mm aperture) nozzle
  • Water the soil thoroughly after application to wash the nematodes into the soil and keep the soil moist for at least two weeks after application
